What to Bring (& What Not to Bring)
Bring:
- Alarm clock
- Calendar/organizer
- Desk lamp
- Extension cords
- Flashlight
- Thumb tacks (to be used only on the cork strip adhered to walls)
- Hangers
- Laundry basket & supplies
- Linens/blankets (twin xl long)
- Pillows
- Surge protector
- Toilet paper (if living in a suite/apartment)
- Toiletries
- Towels
- Umbrella
New in 2022: All rooms will have a MicroFridge unit in their room upon arrival, provided
by Goucher College. This means there is no need to bring your own fridge. MicroFridges
include a refrigerator, freezer, and microwave all in one!
Do not bring:
- Air conditioner
- Candles
- Cinder blocks
- Cooking appliances (without auto shut-off)
- Electric blankets
- Electric heaters
- Halogen lamps
- Heat/sun lamps
- Hoverboards, Swagways, IO Hawks, Skywalkers, and similar devices
- Hot plates
- Hot pots
- Immersion heaters
- Incense
- Kerosene heaters
- Microwave ovens
- Pets (fish and small birds, are permitted)
- Toasters/toaster ovens
- Wall nails
- Weapons/knives
Please note: If these items are found in your possession, they will be confiscated and an incident
report will be written.
Talk with your roommate about:
- Area rug, approx 9' X 12' (all room floors are tile)
- Games or game systems
- Coffee pot (automatic shut-off only)
- Iron (automatic shut-off only)
- Small ironing board
- Small fan
- Swiffer
- Television
- Trashcan (small)
Consider bringing:
- Bike and lock
- Can opener
- Cleaning supplies
- Hair dryer
- Kitchen utensils & dishes
- Message board (for inside room; dry erase/bulletin boards provided on each door)
- Office supplies (pens, paper, scissors, etc.)
- Plants
- Posters (no nails, please)
- Small sewing kit
- Snacks
- Sports equipment
- Storage containers (for food, clothes, etc.)
